Senior Chemical Engineering major at University of Illinois-Chicago Concentration in Biochemistry Two Associates Degrees: Associates in Arts Associates in Science Composite score of 30 on ACT. I received a 30 in Science, a 33 in reading and a 33 in English. I graduated from Downers Grove North in 2003.
Experience
I have been tutoring for 2+ years now. I started out on craigslist and a few tutoring sites and have tutored well over dozens of students to great success. I have a 30 composite on the ACT with 30+ scores in English, Reading and Science. I enjoy tutoring, I offer unique and interesting ways to get the student to understand something. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and explain things in a different way for it to click. Typical first sessions include an initial assessment where I try to pin point where the student is having difficulty in a certain area. I have an instinctual ability to explain complicated subjects in a way that clicks and connects with students. I am a Chemical Engineering major with a concentration in Biochemistry. A few courses I have taken: Physical Chemistry I and II, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I and II, General Biology and Chemistry I and II, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Engineering Thermodynamics, Physics for Scientists and Engineers, Transport Phenomena, Process Heat Transfer, Chemical Equilibria, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Circuit Analysis, along with all the required general electives to earn two Associates Degrees! I look forward to showing you that learning does not have to be stressful and a pain. If done right learning can be actually quite rewarding. There is no greater feeling than receiving an A on an exam you studied really hard for!! In addition to science, I have a very solid understanding of writing, English, reading. I have never received lower than an A on any research paper written. My strategy for research papers would be ultimately to make the student do most of the writing however provide a structured outline and premise to follow. I can tutor writing at a elementary level or an advanced college level.
